ACE Eligibility

This question provides information about eligibility requirements for the New Paltz ACE program for Fall 2025. Please read the information below and indicate if you'd like to meet with an advisor to learn more.

Must be an incoming accepted transfer student with an earned associate degree*.
- *Students who are currently working on their associate degree who expect to graduate prior to the start of the semester can be considered. In this case, students could be conditionally accepted into the program.

Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) application.
- Note: Students concerned about completing the FAFSA due to family circumstances can reach out to ACE program staff to learn about options to apply directly for New York State financial aid.
Receive at least $1 of federal Pell or NYS grant aid (TAP or Excelsior). Students in the process of completing financial aid may be conditionally accepted into the program.
Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen (NYS DREAM Act students also eligible)
Be eligible for in-state tuition.
Enroll full-time each semester in an ACE-approved degree program.
Commit to the completion of an eligible major within two years. All majors are currently eligible, however, eligibility for certain majors may be impacted if you have not completed prerequisite coursework at your prior college. Transfers must be able to complete their New Paltz requirements within 60 credits to be eligible.
Adhere to all ACE program requirements (Program requirements will be discussed during the information/intake session).

NO - I am not interested in the ACE program - this option does not affect your acceptance to SUNY New Paltz, and you will move forward as a regular admitted student. By choosing this option you understand that you will not be able to enter this program in the future.

Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
Must be on track and commit to the completion of your degree and chosen major within four years since starting New Paltz. Eligibility into the program for certain majors may be impacted.
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) application.
- Note: Students concerned about completing the FAFSA due to family circumstances can reach out to ACE program staff to learn about options to apply directly for New York State financial aid.
